Question : SBS 2008 Console feature is not setup correctly - Unable to create users -

Hello Folks,

I have a windows small business server 2008 for 2 month with 10 users for now.
All created without SBS console. (Directly from Exchange SP2) so NEVER saw i had problems with SBS console after installation, till now.

I want to create some users with de Windows SBS Console. But when I'm to create a user I receive the following message:

The user account cannot be added. Ensure that the "Active Directory Domain Services" Service is running. If this servies is running, it may be busy and therefore unable to add the user account. Try to run this task again later.

the AD Services are running and the first user I created during the Server install works OK.
I'm also able to create a user account on the normal AD users and computers, but not on the Windows SBS Console.

Also i couldn't see the 10 existing users in the console exept the first (my) account.
I was able to fool the SBS console to edit 10 accounts attribute msSBScreationState to --> Created. SBS console could see the users, and able to work with it.

Have two interesting screenshots from adduser.log and console.log with occured errors.

I have checked install logs for errors during setup (i havn't noticed one during install)
SBS MUPhase2Task: One or more updates cannot be installed.
(Anyone having a clew how to re-install this part ?)

Have read the article of Frans where he renamed a AD OU which caused the same problem i have. Unfortunately also that doesn't seems to be the problem.

(Last hint i got from a friend was to check if sysvol and Logon directory are working)

Ohh....All security updates are installed. (exchange is updated to SP2)

All help or hints are appreaciated.

Answer : SBS 2008 Console feature is not setup correctly - Unable to create users -

It seems that you changed the name of the ou "My Business" to EYE4.IT
Change it back to MyBusiness and then follow the post below

http://forums.techarena.in/small-business-server/1136297.htm
"""Alright I figured I should come and update on what I have found out.  I broke
down and contacted Microsoft Tech Support.  The main visible form of the
communication problem stems from the fact that SBS 2008 does not support
changing the name of the MyBusiness OU.  This caused the break down in all of
my wizards.  By default they are looking for MyBusiness as the title and
nothing else, and although I know I never went in an manually changed it my
bin in active directory was titled my actual business name.  Once I went in
and changed it back and restarted all of the wizards worked again.  Second,
the WSUS problem came because the database for all the updates was on a
different partition, and again for some reason the permissions did not
transfer properly when it was placed on a different partition.  I had to go
in and manually enter the Authenticated Users group to the WSUS folder and
the communication was resolved.  Third, in the MPS Report there is a netdiag
tool.  Apparently Netdiag is not a supported tool on SBS 2008.  It was
throwing DNS query errors that were none existent because it was using a tool
that was compatible with SBS 2003.  Dcdiag is still good but Netdiag no
longer works with SBS 2008.  This is what the support team at Microsoft told
me when I questioned these errors not being resolved.  I think that covers
everything, and I hope it helps anyone else who comes across these issues.

Hope this Helps
