Question : Server Monitoring via Email

Are there any "free" monitoring tools that will check on a server's health, report on disk space, etc, and send that to an email address say once a day?  I run a small network of 6 servers and the budget is tight right now.  Any advice would be helpful.

Hi there, we use Cacti, however a lot of the scripts used are customer written in PHP to monitor/alert.

The other solution that comes to mind is Nagios.
