Question : Remove hiberfil.sys windows 2003 SBS sp1

I need to get rid of the disk space hog of a file hiberfil.sys. it is 4 gig, and I need the disk space. Hibernate is off and has never been on since this is a production server. Removed all UPS software. Also ran the command "powercfg /h off" comes back with error - system running in PAE mode and is not supported. Tried to delete but obviously it is in use. process explorer show it is a handle from system process. Is it safe to use a utility that will remove at next boot?

Answer : Remove hiberfil.sys windows 2003 SBS sp1

Hi,

It shouldn't but as always, verify your backup before makeing changes to your system. Create an ASR disk.

I would rename the file to hiberfil.old and boot back into windows. If everything seems OK. I would delete after makeing a backup of it. Just in case.

Cheers,
Perry
