Question : Missing Winlogon from registry

I have a Windows 2000 server and in chasing unwanted visitors around my registry I think I have deleted this line out of my registry
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
UserInit = C:\WINNT\system32\userinit.exe,

(This line is copied from a 2000 professional box)

The server now accepts all logins happily then saves settings coming back to the login screen. (In all modes safe etc...)

What can I do ?

Answer : Missing Winlogon from registry

Yes it will come out of or it won't show you the desktop beacuse Userinit.exe entry at WinLogon key will show the desktop and Explorer.exe located in the same key with Shell entry is the user's default shell. You need to perform the following the following. I will guide through all the methods i know to recover from this situation: -

1. Using Remote Registry Service.
