Question : SBS 2003 - Question on CALs

How many CALS, device or user should I have?
SBS 2003 with XP Workstations.

6 PCs & 6 Users, One Photocopier/scanner (which authenticates with server, as emails a scanned document to a user).

Does a normal network printer require a CAL? Does file server require a CAL?

I understand this:
50 employees in the warehouse and there's 5 PCs in the breakroom.
There can be 50 accounts created for each user, but if you choose device CALs,
you only need 5 CALs.
And if you have 5 users that bounce around to a mix of 50 PCs, cell phones, etc,
you choose user CALs and only need 5 CALs.

Answer : SBS 2003 - Question on CALs

Yep, according to the FAQ, installing 10 additional per-user CALs on the SBS server will cover you, as long as you've also got adequate Terminal Server CALs for Server2.  (Since you didn't mention TS CALs, I'll assume you're covered there.)  Unfortunately, I'd say that the 10 per-server CALs on the 2003 Std server were not necessary.  Was that server being used before SBS was installed, by any chance?
