Can you please post two things:
1. The specific conditional formatting you are doing (changing font, color, etc)
2. The conditions of the format (apply format when what is true?). Is this a simple field value? Is it a complex expression?
While conditional formatting itself is built into Access and therefore not configurable, there can be greatly varying degrees of efficiency in how one determines whether a condition is true, and someone here may well be able to help with that.
