Question : Getting GC error trying to run rendom /upload

I am renaming a domain. Have 1 DC and already verified existing DC has got the check box marked as a Global Catolg server. Unable to move forward running command rendom /upload to complete rename since this command is not creating the necessary file called Dclist.xml. This is the error I am getting:
Couldn't find a GC for the enterprise.  Please ensure that there is a contactable GC in the forest and try again..Cannot connect and bind to the Domain Naming FSMO.  Cannot Continue
Also we have a hosted exchange.
Thanks in advance..

Answer : Getting GC error trying to run rendom /upload

The domain rename operation is supported within an Active Directory forest if, and only if, all domain controllers in the forest are running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, or Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition, and the forest functionality has been raised to Windows Server 2003 or higher. Therefore, before you can rename a domain in your Active Directory forest, you must ensure that the forest functionality has been raised to at least Windows Server 2003.

have you gone through step-bystep-guide to implmenting domain rename?
