Question : Form design change causes Access to crash

One of my users has an Access application designed by a third-party.  The front-end app has been in use for quite a few years.  There is a tabular form that is rediculously over loaded with controls.  Any attempted design change to the form causes Access to crash.  I've tried renaming the form and importing a copy from a back-up but this also causes Access to crash.  I've gone through the compact/repair and decompile process twice with no change.  The application functions correctly but no design changes can be made to the particular form.  I am wondering if the form has hit the maximum limit on the number of controls that can be added over the lifetime (if I remember correctly the limit is 754).  If so, would a simple design change such as moving a command button 0.1 inch cause Access to crash?  The crash occurs when attempting to save the form.

Access 2003 fully patched
Win XP Pro fully patched

The behavior exhibits on multiple machines.  The third-party developer has also attempted to look at it and has experienced the crash in Access XP and Access 2007.

mdb file format is Access 2000.

Any thoghts?

Thanks,
OM Gang

Answer : Form design change causes Access to crash

What about copying all the objects from the form onto a new form?  Of course, you'll have to copy all the code behind the form also and maybe attach some events to their code, and other tweaks.  Maybe if you copy the code first the events will find their code.
