Question : Cannot activate trial Windows Home Server with OEM License?

I have a friend who installed a trial of Windows Home Server at his house to see if he wanted it, 30 days in and being asked for activation he bought an OEM copy from Amazon. Now when he puts in his activation key it is rejected as not being a valid key. I know that if he re-installs using the OEM disc that activation will work, however he has already setup his drive pool and migrated his data to it. Is there anyway to reset the activation to accept the OEM key without re-installing?

Answer : Cannot activate trial Windows Home Server with OEM License?

If it is truly a valid license you can always call Microsoft with the 800 number provided during installation and they will give you a key that you can use during installation. I've done installs at Churches and other Non-Profits where MS didn't care if I used the same license on multiple machines but I had to call the 800 number to get the key over the phone during setup/install.
