Question : why will windows 98 only start in safe mode?

Hi there,
     I set up a computer for a friend and it is windows 98 and it will only start in safe mode. Its been so long since I dealt with 98 I can't remember what to do to possibly fix this problem.  There are no conflicts in device manager. what else can I check?

Those are good news.

Start in Safe Mode and go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager and delete ALL entries under Display Adapter.

Reboot letting Windows reinstall the drivers and hopefully solve the problem.
