I have created a global distribution group - it opos up twice in the GAL - one is the group that shows the contacts - but it shows another exact name of the group (there is only one ion AD) with NO users attached = ????

Answer : I have created a global distribution group - it opos up twice in the GAL - one is the group that shows the contacts - but it shows another exact name of the group (there is only one ion AD) with NO us

The first one is a distribution group and the second one is a mail-enabled public folder. Public folders do not show up in AD, unless you select Exchange Recipients and search for mail enabled public folder. You need to find the PF and disable mail on it to remove the 2nd entry in Outlook Address Book, or you can hide it from GAL.
