Question : How do I get MS Access 2000 (Office)  updates sr1a & sp3 to install ?

Installed Microsoft Access 2000 from CD on a computer running Windows XP Home (sp2).
I do not have MS Office suite.  Only the Access 2000 program on a Microsoft disc.
Went to install updates 02ksr1a  and 02ksp3

During the SR1a update and during the file download an error message occurs during install:
Microsoft update did not complete successfully. For assitance contact Microsoft Tech Support. See logfile Office 2000 SR-1 setup(0001).txt

Looked for the logfile.  Have not found it yet.

During the SP 3 update I get the message: The expected version of the product was not found on your system.

I uninstalled the Access 2000 program and reinstalled.  Still has same symptoms.

I have been succesful on a previous computer with installing the program, upgrading and having the program operate without problems (Access runs in the background with order manager program I will install called Stone Edge, once I get Access installed and updated.

I do have SQL 2005 server express installed on this box and I did not on my previous installation.  Planned database will only reside on this box, not on a network.

How can I get these updates installed ?

Thanks.

Answer : How do I get MS Access 2000 (Office)  updates sr1a & sp3 to install ?

I've been running Access 2000 -- admittedly installed as part of Office 2000 -- on both an XP Home and an XP Pro machine without having to install any of the service packs. I could easily be mistaken, but I believe those all have to do with flaws in how earlier operating systems (Windows 2000 or Win98SE) dealt with the software. My XPPro machine is fairly new, but the other one is three years old (at least).

My old (recently deceased) desktop had Win2K on it, and the Windows update process always found any updates for Office 2000 -- but the XP update system has never done so.

Frankly, I'd try installing your order manager program and see if it works. I'm betting you won't have any issues.
