Question : Raid 5 4x1 TB format time?

I  setup a Raid 5 array in Windows Vista (hardware 3ware controller) using 4 x 1 TB hard drives.  It took me a while to figure out how to get Vista to recognize more than 2048mb hard drive and put it as one drive, now I have that done and I started formatting the 2795mb disk.  I started formatting about 8.5 hours ago and it is 5% complete, is this normal for a Raid 5 array or is Vista choked up on something?

Computer is:
Intel Q6600 quad-core
4gb ram
Vista Ultimate 32-bit (64-bit still missing some important software for my media)

I would say your doing alright, we added a similar ammount of space 6x 500G and it took us over the weekend to format it.
