Question : Disable 'create profile' enquiry in Windows 7
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and generally am very pleased with it.
However there is one niggle that is driving me mad and I can't find how to switch it off, although the answer may be obvious and I have just overlooked it.
Every time a nearby neighbour turns on a wi-fi router Windows detects it and pops up a window asking:
'There is a new network connection available - would you like to create a profile for it?'
It's really annoying as if I'm remotely vpn'd into my office pc or watching a movie the current window drops from full screen and I have to say no to the message and put my window back into full screen mode so I can continue with what I was doing.
I have already set my own connection profile up to the networks I can connect to and I really don't care that the man next door has just switched on his wi-fi as he hasn't given me access to use it anyway!
Is there any way of telling Windows 7 to not ask the connection profile message when it sees a new network?
Answer : Disable 'create profile' enquiry in Windows 7
You could try to go here:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings
Then expand one of you network profiles and set it to "Turn off network discovery".
