My dad has a Toshiba M115-S1061 with windows XP that has a hoarse, husky, scattered sound

I have reinstalled the audio drivers, but no luck.

Did you try External speakers, Headphones (Earbuds sort of) ? Do they replicate the same sound or is the sound normal in them?
