Question : Registry Issue - Userinit string value missing in the registry - windows server 2003 server
Greetings!!!
This is to inform that Userinit string value is missing in the registry - windows server 2003 server. However, the file userinit.exe is still there in the windows\system32 directory. What is happening nobody is unable to login even the local administrator. I have found the MS document number for this kb/555648. This document tells to edit this value. But this document is not telling that if the string value is missing, shall we just add it and give the path. I just want to check if anyone has done this before.
What I want to make sure if we add this entry into the registry then it should not have any problems.
Thanks in advance
Answer : Registry Issue - Userinit string value missing in the registry - windows server 2003 server
Yes, just add it as a String Valule, and give it the path (should be c:\windows\system32\userin
it.exe, (notice the comma)
I have had to do this on workstations, but not a server, with no problem....
I dont see any problems personally....
