Question : No picture, just sound on xbox 360

My son has had his 360 for about 3 yrs.First the picture was blurry then we turned it off. When turning it back on there was sound but no picture. I called Microsoft and they explained that my warranty is expired and told me to try to get a new cable. I ordered a component cable and still no picture. What else can I try or is it just gone. PLZ help!!
