Question : Compaq and CD-RW GCE-8240B

Hello,
recently a friend asked me to build a new CD-RW into his (old) PC. He had bought himself a GC-8240B model from LG (www.lgeservice.com).
I did this but I have a little problem:
- the cd is not recognised in Windows 98.
- If u boot in DOS and load the necessary drivers : the disk is ok.
- If one builds into another PC : everything works fine.
Has anybody any idea where I can find a solution, or has anybody the solution ?
The PC is a Compaq Deskpro 2000, OS = win98 2nd ed.
