Question : SCCM Bare Metal installing Windows on wrogn drive

After a recent call to microsoft to resolve an unrelated SCCM issue we were having, all our windows installations are installing to the d: drive, which is bad.

I have went through the task sequence, and verified that I have entered c for the variables needed.
1) In the partition step, I entered c as a variable to assign
2) In the Apply Operating System step I choose Destination -> Specific logical drive letter and Drive Letter -> C:

Neither of these seemed to fix it.

Answer : SCCM Bare Metal installing Windows on wrogn drive

This is because you are 'applying'  Windows Install Media as an Operating System Image instead of using Setup (i.e. applying as a Operating System Install Source).

Even though Windows Vista/7/2008 source are captured as a WIM,  you must either install using setup, or install using setup and capture your own custom WIM before deploying via SCCM OSD

So just import the OS as an Operting System Install Source and try again, you should be fine.
