I have had issues with this as well and here is what I did to fix it:
1. Create new connector under the 'Hub Transport' under 'Server Configuration' (I called it client)
2. Check the following options under it's properties:
a. FQDN should match other servers/ssl (mine is remote.domain.com
b. under network, it should use any available IP and use port 587
c. Remote IP addesses should state all (0.0.0.0-255.255.255.255
d. On the 'Authentication' tab, the following should be checked:
i. Transport Layer Security (TLS)
ii. Basic Authentication
iii. Offer Basic authentication only after starting TLS
iv. Integrated Windows authentication
e. On Permission Groups check 'Exchange users'
On the iphone, I have the following setup in the IMAP mail settings:
1. IMAP Account Informaiton
a. Name: "name"
b. Address: "email address"
c. Description: "whatever you want"
2. Incoming Mail Server
a. Host Name: "remote.domain.com"
b. Username: short account name "accoundname"
c. Password: password
3. Outgoing Mail Server
a. Host Name: remote.domain.com
b. User Name: short account name
c. Password: password
d. Use SSL: 'off'
e. Authentication: 'NTLM'
f. Server Port: '587'
I realize this post is old and most likely dead, but hopefully this helps anyone else looking for a solution to this problem..
