Question : Access Denied Error when trying to access an old hard drive

I had to reinstall the os on my pc. I added a slave drive but forgot to delete the permissions on a user account that is also admin. when trying to access my files, i get an access denied error. I tried the other solution of clicking on the user name and right clicking on properties but i dont have a security tab or adv tab option. so what else can i do. Im running Windows XP Prof. thanks!
