Question : Why M/S updates wanting to update Software not installed?

PC has Works 2002 & Works 8.5 (2005) installed. M/S updates has already updated that Program.
Now I get recommended updates for "Security update 2007 Office Systems".
I do not have that Program.
So should I just "hide" such updates?
M/S updates goes "crazy" wanting to "secure" even what I don't have.

Please explain course of action.

Update detection looks for file versions. Sometimes you have files that belong to office 2007 for some other reason and the dumb detection wants to patch those. Sometimes it's even sensible to do that because the vulnerabilities would affect you, too.
As you cannot tell, the best thing to do is install those, I'm afraid.
