Question : How to handle Administrator Alert ?

Hi All,

I am running a Win 2000 Server, I keep getting an Alert message these days, the following is the message:

From: Remote Storage on ORADEV (my server name)
User: SYSTEM
Subj: **ADMINISTRATOR ALERT**

Add "4mm DDS" media the Free Media Pool, or to media pool
"\Remote Storage\4mm DDS"

I checked that I have both "Remote Storage\Removable Storage\Media Pools\Free\4mm DDS" and "Remote Storage\Removable Storage\Media Pools\Remote Storage\4mm DDS" already, what does this alert mean? and how should I do.

Thanks,

David Zhu

Answer : How to handle Administrator Alert ?

ALert could refer to several issues, most common problem is you have your tape pool configured to append back-up to the tape versus overwiriting what is on the tape.  Subsequently the software thinks your tape pool is full.  Change the setting on your backups to overwrite or add more tapes to your media pool, but eventually you will get the error again.
