Question : SCCM Dependancy on NetBios

In our environment we are trying to remove the need for NetBios by disabling it on our routers and workstations. Can anyone tell me what effect if any this may have on SCCM? We are in the early stages of configuring and deploying SCCM, so before its goes too far would like to know the dependancy SCCM has on NetBios if any. We have a fully functional DNS/WINS environment that I would think SCCM should be able to utilize to function. Thanks.

Answer : SCCM Dependancy on NetBios

When you say disable netbios do you mean this?  http://articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-10878_11-6065923.html

If you disable Netbios, SCCM site server (primary to primary sites, secondary to secondary sites, etc) will not be able to "talk" to on another.  Most of the data sent between site servers are basic file copies.

If you disable Netbios on the SCCM client systems, you will lose the ability to run an advertisement over the network.  By default SCCM clients will try to download the program and then execute anyway... but if you have a large program (1Gb or bigger), you may not want your SCCM clients to download a GB before running the program.  Therefore, you will choose to run the program over the network.,. you need SMB netbios to do this.
