Question : User Profile Service error when logging in. Regedit BAK stuff not applicable.

I get the "User Profile Service service  failed the login" "User profile cannot be loaded" error when trying to login. I'm trying to login for the first time using a different user account so there isn't an existing profile. Previous suggestions to open the registry and delete the xxx.BAK entries don't apply, because I don't have any existing profiles to make a BAK...  Really Really Tired after spending all night on this.
