Question : Vista and locked admin password

I have been asked to unlock a vista admin password that the user does not remember. I have tried different software that say they can crack the password but the machine will not boot from the CD. I tried the same software on a different vista machine and it was able to read the CD and provide me the option to change the password. So, it seem like I just can't get this particular dell laptop to boot from the CD. I'm willing to do do a clean install but not sure if this has a recovery and how to get to it. Any suggestion on different way to get the password or just re-install would be appreciated.

Answer : Vista and locked admin password

If both machines are laptop and use the same interface for hard disk (SATA or IDE), it would be easy. Just get the hard disk from the problem laptop and put it in another laptop and start that laptop from CD.
