Question : How to open zip files in outlook without saving the attachment

Hello & Happy New Year

I have outlook 2003 running on Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

When a email comes in with an attachment that is a .zip file a user would like to just open the zip file up to see what is in it. They do not want to have to save the zip to be able to open it. The user also once they click the attached zip file a window pops up with a few options. These are "Open" & "Save". When you click open the computer does nothing & no zip file is opened.

On windows XP or Vista when you click open it would open up. Can you get window 7 to do this as well?

Like when you open up a word or pdf document to read it. You do not have to save the file somewhere before you can open it.

We do not use Winzip or Winrar to open our zip files. Only use window to open zip files.

Answer : How to open zip files in outlook without saving the attachment

you can use 7zip to open the zip files.... http://www.7-zip.org/

its free... you could also use the trial version on WinRar, but its like the trail version of WinZip, you have to click the accept button every time you load....

7Zip is completely free, its open source...
