Question : Microsoft® Hyper-V" Server 2008 R2 is out, and now ?

Hi Folks,

I'm going to install a virtualized SBS2008 Premium soon, and am trying to find the correct infos to plan it correctly.

What I need :

- SBS2008 (AD, Exchange, ..)
- Terminal Services
- Fax services
- backup to USB HDD (Ethernet if needed)

I know 'how to' virtualize the thing, but ..

I read alot about all this and found forums and blogs telling Fax Services and UPS were not usable, I would like to know if it is still the case with Hyper-V R2.

If it is, is there any 'workaround' ? (Ethernet Fax cards ?)

I also would like to know if I'll be able to use USB Hard Drives that the customer will plug, unplug .. to backup the servers. If ot, what solution should I use ?

Thanks for your answers,

I think it you actually asked a question, per question, instead of grouping them all together it would be much easier to give you the information you require.

Like with the USB HDD. Okay you want to backup the servers. You want to backup the SBS08 box as well as the TS box. How are these going to be configured? Do you want to have it setup so it will backup as one job? Are you hoping to just use the built-in backup utility or you looking at using other software to do the backup. Are you going to be using mutliple rotating backups? How often and how much data are they going to be backing up.

By having specific questions it makes it so much easier to give you an idea of where to start.
