Question : Configure SharePoint 3.0 to send document library alerts that include "comments"

We have configured our document library to send email alerts, however the alerts are not detailed enough - we'd like to see the "comments" users enter when changing a document. Anyone know how to include these comments in the alert, or perhaps have the comments distributed automatically upon changes?  Willing to invest in a 3rd party solution if needed.
