Question : Exchange 2007 mail redirect to external address?
|
|
Brand new to Exchange 2007... heck, brand new to EXCHANGE period... and I am stumped on what was pathetically easy to do with our old setup. Don't get me wrong, I am completely sold on Exchange, it just is forcing me to do things in different ways!
I have a user that requires copies of mail sent not only to her mailbox, but to an external e-mail address as well. This was a simple checkbox and a textarea for an e-mail address in the old software. How is this accomplished in the Exchange 2007 universe?
Also, I would prefer to do this at the server level, not in the Outlook client if possible.
I am sorry if this is a super beginner thing that I should just already know, but I can't find a solution. Searches here come up with results for 5.5, 2000 & 2003, but they don't seem to apply to Exchange 2007.

Answer : Exchange 2007 mail redirect to external address?

Hi,
You should first create a contact and then forward to the contact.
Open EMC > Expand Recipient Configuration, > Mail Contacts > New Mail Contact > Action Pane or right click in the centre column to start the wizard. Enter the contact info including the external address.
Then from the EMS (Exchange Management Shell): - Set-Mailbox -Identity UsersName -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $true -ForwardingAddress [email protected]
