Question : Unable to see embedded file in Word document

Hello,

I have a word document that is supposed to have an embedded file(s) that are probably excel files.  I can't find the icon in the word document to open the embedded file.

I saved the document as a Word 2007 doc, added a .zip extension, and then extracted the compenents.
I found 2 files called: oleObject1.bin and oleObject2.bin which appear to the the embedded files.

How can I find the embedded file in the original document or open the embedded file after saving the the individual word components.

Thanks,

Brandon

Answer : Unable to see embedded file in Word document

Brandon,

How are you doing?

I think that the word "find (go to)" option will be able to locate (if the file does exist, embedded within your document). To use this option, see the screen shot below.

Home > (editing) Find > Change to "Go To" (tab) > Change "Go To What" (to Object) > Change "Enter Object Name" (to Any object, if not already selected) > find. Should locate the two objects, if they are within the document.

Hope this helps,
Kevin
