Question : can you sync two cells in a table

I would like to know if there is a way to link two cells in a table so that when an ID is chosen for one the other fills in with the data that is linked to the ID in the first field.

(ex: tblfootnotes - Columns: ID & Footnotes; choose ID # 5 and Footnote 5, "acquiesco - Latin word to find", is displayed.)
