Question : Setting user-level passwords on Access 2000
|
|
We have an Access (Office) 2000 database, basically an address book, on our server, and it's being linked to by users who are also running Office 2000. Works fine, but we now want to add a user-level password so that each user can only edit his own records. In other words, each user would be able to see all data from all records from all users, but would only be able to edit his own (and of course be able to create new records). I know this is a standard Access feature, but it would take me forever to figure it out.
Example:
I am Tom, and I login with my password. I can see all the records for me and Jerry, but I can ony edit/delete my own. Similarly, Jerry can login and see all the records, but can only edit/delete his own. And of course, we can both create new records with our own names on it, and these new records would follow the same rules as above.
User Data1 Data2 Data3
Tom TomData1 TomData2 TomData3 Tom TomData1 TomData2 TomData3 Jerry JerryData1 JerryData2 JerryData3 Tom TomData1 TomData2 TomData3 Jerry JerryData1 JerryData2 JerryData3 Jerry JerryData1 JerryData2 JerryData3
What is the easiest way to do this?
