Question : Sharepoint Portal Services Restore failure
Greetings all, here is my situation:
I am trying to restore Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 / Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 sp3
We have a web front end and a back end DB with all the databases. Our web front end crashed.
i was able to reinstall both programs and get the central administrator working, but cannot restore the actual sharepoint site that we once had.
Are the databases enough to get the site working? I have tried to create a new portal site through the Central Administrator and than selected 'restore portal site' but it tells me that I am creating a site with the same ID...
In messing with this thing though I have got myself into a situation where:
Central Admin works.
IIS has only ONE site and ONE app pool, both for the central admin
I have my content db's (_site _prof _serv)
Please let me know how I can get my site back up from here, i am doing something wrong...
Thanks in advance!
Answer : Sharepoint Portal Services Restore failure
Create a new Web Application, it will create a new content db. Once you have your new web app running, attach your old content db and delete the new one you were forced to create.
