Question : VMWare ESXi and Windows 2003

We are running VM Esxi on an HP ML350 G6 with 16 GB or RAM.  It is hosting 3 virtual machines- 2- WIN 2K8 machines and 1- WIn 2k3 machine.  The WIn 2k3 machine is a terminal server for access to a Novell network.  This machine will freeze up every 3 - 5 hours.  The two running Win2k8 are fine. The only way to restore it is to restart it from the VM client on the manager machine.  All performance indicators seem fine on this bx and the local host.  CPU, RAM, disk, and network indicators generally run at less than 25%.  Can anyone help us with this problem?

Answer : VMWare ESXi and Windows 2003

Are you looking at the stats from ESX or from the VM guest OS.  If you're looking at the stats from the VM guest OS you will not see correct information.

How many vCPUs does the system have as well as memory?  Is the memory reserved?  In general with virtual TS/Citrix Servers you should:

1.  Disable the baloon driver in vmware tools
2.  Reserve 4GB RAM on a .x86 VM
3.  Only install 1 vCPU
