Question : File extentions

I am using windows 95 b operating system.
I recently installed corel photo paint 8.
When I did, all the jpg and bmp files were
automaticly associated with photo paint and would
open up in photo paint. Photo paint has a tool bar
under options to turn off the filter. I can uncheck
these files but then they just go to a icon with a white flag with
a windows symble in the middle and ask for which program
you like to open with. Before I loaded photo paint the jpg's had a square icon with a brush in the middle of it and always opened up in iexplorer.
You can go to file types and the jpg file icon type and extention is correct. How can I get my image file back to the way they were?

Thanks
