Question : SQL Server Service manager saying 'Not Connected \\'

I have a weird problem with the MSDE sp3 desktop engine on my workstation. Iam running WinXP.

No matter how many time i install it (either at command prompt or through editing the ini), It installs ok, but at startup on the SQL Server Service manager it is saying 'Not Conected on //' even though under Administrative Tools/Services the service started correctly. After doing a search on google i see that this is a common problem but know one seems to have a solution that i can get to work either through registry or though settings in Enterprise Manager.

Any help would be GREATLY Appreciated...
