Question : Outlook SP3 blocks attachments

Outlook 2003/SP3.  User trying to open .xnk file.  Gets message: "Warning this file may contain virus's that could be harmful to your computer. You must save the file to disk before it can be opened. It is important to be VERY certain this file is safe before you open."
Then it gives file name and type and the option to Save to Disk.... or Cancel.
Once I save it to the hard drive it opens with no problems. I added following registry key and user still cannot open attachment without 1st saving it.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security]
"Level1Remove"=".mdb;.xnk"

Answer : Outlook SP3 blocks attachments

The registry edit you mention only keeps Outlook from removing any "unsafe" attachments from the email.  As far as I know there is no way to force Outlook to directly open these "unsafe" attachments without saving them to your hard drive first.

Sorry Wizzywig1970.
