Question : Setting Up Network Lab ESXi 4.0
I need to set up a lab to test deployment issuses. I have an esxi 4.0 server running fine.
I want to have:
Main site: 192.168.0.x/24
Server1: Active directory/DNS/DHCP
Server2: Oracle
Server3:
Site 1: 1923168.1.x/24
Server4:
Client1:
Site2: 192.168.2.x/24
Client3:
Cleint4:
How can I set this up on my ESXi server?
I have 3 physical network cards installed, here is the problem. I would like everything to be virtualised, and have read that setting up a VM with 2 NICs isn't the best solution. Idealy would be to attach the vswithces together.
I need 1 network card for my remote access and only have 2 left to connect 3 segments together. Is my only option to have a phisical swith, but i would still be missing 1 nic.
Answer : Setting Up Network Lab ESXi 4.0
You can configure trunking and connect several vlan to to the trunk. I have links to some good reference from vmware.
This will allow you to run multiple VLANs/subnets over fixed amount of physical ports
