Question : SCCM Client Push Installation Wizard does not install the client.

Hi,

I have tried running the Client Push wizard for a single computer and the result is always the same - no SCCM client is installed on the computer and looking at the processes in the target machine the CCMSetup.exe does NOT appear.
The computers are running 32-bit Windows XP SP3. The computer is already running the SMS2003 clients this is like an upgrade.

Here are some things I've done:

1.)The Windows firewall is disabled.

2.)The client push installation account is setup and have domain admin. Client Push automatic method is not enabled.

3.)The domain is AD WIndows 2003.

4.)The SCCM server is running Windows 2003 SP2 32bit Standard.

5.) The AD schema has been extended with a new site code different to the one we already have in SMS2003.

6.) We have a single site server with all the roles including the FSP. The Database has been placed in a remote SQL server

7.) System management container is created and all rights and permissions delegated.

8.) With the Push installation account I can access C$ share on the client computer from the SCCM server.

9.) RPC, Remote registry, WMI services are running on the client machines.

10.) All prerequisites are installed from the client folder on SCCM server- latest BITS 2.5, Windows installer 3.1 and MSXML6.

11.) The boundaries are specified in SMS 2003 by Subnets. I have removed 172.22.0.0/16 from SMS2003 and move it to SCCM I have tried IP subnet and also IP range 172.20.0.1 to 172.20.255.254.

12.) Finally the manual installation of the client works fine, the new agent gets installed and it points to the new site code. I have checked the ccmsetup log for the target computer at C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ccmsetup and the install seems to work fine.

However I don't know why the client push doesn't seem to work and I don't know how what else to do or how to troubleshoot at this point.

Could someone help me out?

Answer : SCCM Client Push Installation Wizard does not install the client.

Pushing to a local domain.

Also from my previous post:

8.) With the Push installation account I can access C$ share on the client computer from the SCCM server.

Finally the client installed successfully after unchecking "Include only clients in this site's boundaries"

It works however I don't understand why?
