Question : POP3 Server to Exchange Server. Plus Change of ISP

Hi,

I have a client who is about to switch from a POP3 email environment to an Exchange Server environment.  After this switch they will be switching ISP's as well. I have a couple of easy questions about these switches.

1.  If they switch from POP3 to Exchange will they still have to backup their existing PST files?
2.  When they switch the ISP do I have to reconfigure the CIECW?
3.  Do I need to reconfigure the CIECW for the mail settings on the server?

Currently they are running SBS 2003 with Active Directory. The server is using the POP3 connector (I believe, I just picked the client up and I'm still learning about their business). How do I configure the server to connect to the Exchange host, or do I need to have the workstations connect directly to the Exchange host and disable the email feature in the server?

Answer : POP3 Server to Exchange Server. Plus Change of ISP

Hi guys,

Once again thank you for your quick response. MCSA2003, you mentioned "If you are running firewall/router then the public ip, subnet, & gateway need to be changed on the device." By device you mean the server correct?  can't I just unplug the CAT5 cable from the existing DSL modem and plug that CAT5 into the new Comcast modem, then rerun the CEICW? Also, doesn't remote desktop use port 3389? (which i will have to configure on the Linksys router)
