Question : DistributedCOM error 10009 help

Hi folks.  I'm getting this error:

Log Name:      System
Source:        Microsoft-Windows-DistributedCOM
Date:          9/29/2009 10:38:57 AM
Event ID:      10009
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      SERVERNAME.SERVERDOMAIN.local
Description:
DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer COMPUTERNAME.COMPANY.local using any of the configured protocols.

I'm getting this error frequently in my logs and I can't find much information on how to fix or why it is trying to communicate with that computer.  Any help?  thanks.

Server is SBS2008.

Answer : DistributedCOM error 10009 help

Hi lionfield,

I had the same error on my sbs2008 machine.
For me it turned out that the machine it was trying to communicate with was no longer around.
But it was still listed in the DNS server with an IP-adress. This adress was now assigned to a different machine. So when I tried to ping the machine name, the other machine was answering.
I deleted the DNS entry in the DNS server and flushed the DNS cache from a  command prompt (ipconfig /flushdns)

In my search I also found this link about wireless clients:

Maybe it helps you further.
