Question : Offline files sync problem

Hello all,

I manually changed the path of My Documents on an XPP SP3 machine in a 2003 AD environment and pointed it to a share on the server. By doing this, Offline files was automatically enabled. After working without any problems for months, this computer is now getting a warning from offline files that it is online and needs to sync 80 files. When I click Ok and do the sync, it says that it completed successfully, but the warning in the sys tray doesn't go away and when I open it, it still thinks it needs to sync and it periodically pops up prompting the user to sync. When I view files, everything is in sync - even files which have been modified/created since this error started.

Is it safe to check the box Work online without synchronizing changes when My Docs has manually been redirected? Or to turn off offline files altogether? I have another client where I have tuned on folder redirect at the GP level and I've had the parameter is incorrect error a couple of times with a laptop user resulting in some very streesfull troubleshoots so I'm being really careful on this one.

Thanks

Answer : Offline files sync problem

Hi,
If your computer is not mobile, I would turn off Offline files for redirected folder. For mobile computer I would recommend to troubleshoot current situation - try to disable and then enable Offline files and whole Folder redirection, recheck files witch tries to be syncronized and check event log.
