Question : Server 2008 Terminal Services & UAC Problem

Server 2008 UAC is blocking a startup application (Pervasive SQL for Peachtree Accounting) for users without administrative access.  How can I make this program always run elevated even when run by ordinary users and without any additional password prompts?

Answer : Server 2008 Terminal Services & UAC Problem

The Pervasive PSQL engine can ALSO be installed as a service.  You didn't mention your version, so the instructions will vary depending on ywhat you have.  PT2009 comes with PSQLv10, which installs as a service and is compatible with 2008 and Vista "out of the box", whereas PT2008 uses PSQLv9, which is not.

Unfortunately, PeachTree uses a custom installer, so you'll probably need to contact them for directions on getting THEIR installer to work properly.

IIRC, the installer asks at one time if the data will be hosted locally, and it decides to install as a service based on the answer to THAT question.  Try reinstalling PT and say YES to that question, and see if that helps.  Make sure that you install from the server console, and NOT from a TS session, too, and you should be OK.
