Question : Upgrade to Server 2008 Enterprise Error "Not enough free space for temporary files", even with plenty of space.
So here's the situation.
We just installed two brand new Server 2008 computers at a client. Unknowingly, I installed Standard edition instead of Enterprise. Go figure.
The 2008 Installation DVD contents are copied to the hard drive, so I figured I'd just to the update from there(I was doing this all remotely.)
I opened up a share so that the second server could access the install folder. I installed the upgrade over the network and everything went fine - no hiccups.
Then I went to install it on the server where the install resided and I get the following message every time I try to install:
"This computer does not have enough free space for temporary files. Windows installation needs at least 455 megabytes(MB) of space on any partition for temporary files. To install Windows, free enough space and restart the installation.
Error Code: 0x80070103"
The computer has plenty of space. About 6gb on the root partition and 17gb on the second partition. I just don't know what could be causing the problem. It worked seamlessly on the other server which is nearly identical to this one.
So far I've just set the TEMP variables to different spots, cleared out temp files, and a handful of other small things. The only things that I could find in a search were people getting the error while installing XP SP3, or updating Windows on Vista.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks!

It actually turned out being that the C:\ partition was no set as active. Don't ask me how that happened...
I marked it as active and then ran a repair install from the dvd. After that I was able to upgrade.
