Question : Windows 7 Local Network Browsing

We're testing Windows 7 logged in to a Windows 2003 Domain. When browsing the local network over 700 items eventually appeared. The process was slow, I'm assumung due to the number of items. When browsing the same local network from an XP machine we see our 75 clients and 10 servers. What are all these "computers" that are appearing when using Win7 to browse the local network?

Answer : Windows 7 Local Network Browsing

Windows XP supported just one discovery method using network browser. This only identified windows PC and service running that service. Windows 7 and Vista support multiple discovery methods and detected other network services. These include  network browser service, SSDP, and Web Services Discovery and UPNP. So more devices and servicecs are detected. For example if you windows media player to share media with other computers for multiple accounts. Then for each account you will see a listing under Media Devices.
