Question : Can't boot from CD drive
Experts,
Have an urgent question please help.
I am going to reinstall XP on a laptop. I have the factory system disc in the CD drive but it just doesn't boot from it. I have ensure that CD/DVD drive is first in the boot list under BIOS. And I even force the laptop to boot from CD (by pressing F12) but it just doesn't. What can I do??
I can get hold of a USB floppy. I can create a bootable floppy from another machine, but what shall I do after that? Even if I boot up the laptop in DOS can I simply run d:\setup.exe (or whatever the .exe file on the CD)?

What is the model of the PC ?
A lot of computers have the ability to restore factory defaults without the use of cd/dvd's, if the partition with the recovery is still intact..! common shortkeys (F11, F10, alt+F10)
