Question : Shut down FSMO domain controller
I have a domain with six 2003 servers, two of them are domain controllers. I have to install a SCSI PCIe card in the FSMO domain controller. Can I shut down the FSMO domain controller with users logged into their workstations and accessing files on the other servers on the network. No one will need to access any files on the FSMO domain controller. Will the other domain controller handle logins and rights while the FSMO is shut down? My concern is that the users will lose access to the files on the 2 file servers while I have the FSMO shut down.

Answer : Shut down FSMO domain controller
As long as the other DC is also a Global Catalog it should be fine.
