Question : Microsoft Server 2003

Moved the PDC, DHCP, and DNS to new server, left the new one as bdc running apps. Rebooted the new DC after doing so. Have not rebooted the old DC. It still looks like the old dc is still acting as the pdc. Do I need to reboot the old DC for the new DC to take over the roles. The article to do this says nothing about rebooting anything.

Answer : Microsoft Server 2003

All dc's in the domain can service login requests, workstations will tend to use the previous dc that they successfully authenticated with and if that's nit available or there is a dc that responds quicker then they will use whichever dc is nearer/ replies the soonest.

for your audit trail, you would be better setting up a share that is always available rather than using %logonserver% which couldbe any dc in your domain.
