Question : Run SSRS 2008 Services Against a SQL 2005 engine?
Hi All,
Is it possible or advisable to run an SSRS 2008 version against/with SQL 2005?
Im wondering if we have SQL 2005 on one server; could we install SQL 2008 Reporting Services onto another server to run against? If so would that database on the server running SSRS 2008 have to be SQL 2008 database engine, or could it be a SQL 2005 engine?
Thanks very much,
John.

If you want to use the second server with SSRS installed to report data from the 2005 server there should be no problem as all you need to do is in the reporting solution create a connection to the old server.
